Youth Members

1st Werribee has youth members in every section - Joey Scouts, Cub Scouts, Scouts, Venturer Scouts and Rover Scouts.

Joey Scouts: ages 5-8

The young person must have had their fifth birthday and be eligible for school prior to commencing in this Section.

Joey Scouts progress to the Cub Scout Section any time after their eighth birthday, and will have completed their progression by their ninth birthday.

Cub Scouts: ages 8-11

The young person must have had their eighth birthday prior to commencing in this Section.

Cub Scouts progress to the Scout Section any time after their eleventh birthday, and will have completed their progression by their twelfth birthday.

Scouts: ages 11-14

The young person must have had their eleventh birthday prior to commencing in this Section.

Scouts progress to the Venturer Scout Section before their fifteenth birthday.

Venturer Scouts: ages 14-18* 

The young person must have had their fourteenth birthday prior to commencing in this section.

Venturer Scouts progress to the Rover Scout Section in the lead up to their eighteenth birthday.

*Venturer Scouts who turn eighteen during year 12 may elect (with the approval of the Unit Council), to stay in the Venturer Scout Section no later than December 31st of their 12th year of school.

Rover Scouts: ages 18-25

Young adults must have had their eighteenth birthday prior to commencing in this section. Members reach the end of the Scout Youth Program, and will leave the Section, no later than their twenty-sixth birthday.

Progression from one section to the next results from a joint discussion between the leaders of the various sections and the parents.  The progression depends on the individual's readiness, both socially and intellectually.
