1st Werribee Scout Group

At 1st Werribee, Rovers welcome young adults from 18 to 25 years. You don’t need to have any Scouting experience, but you do need to keep up with some adventurous people and their adrenaline-packed adventures! A Rover Scout's time in the Section ends by their 26th birthday. Every Unit is different. Each has its own traditions, special interests and personalities. A Rover Unit runs itself, with an elected Unit Leader and executive. Rovers enjoy helping others, having a great time and taking on new challenges. You’ll need a ‘give it a go’ attitude, and you’ll be rewarded with some serious fun. Rovers get down and dirty each year in a Mud Bash, and costumed chaos reigns at the annual ball. There’s a surfing camp at Anglesea, or an Easter hiking challenge. Plus, you can enjoy our own ski chalet near Falls Creek. Every three years, Rovers converge on one location for a ten-day extravaganza of activities at the National Moot.

Unit Council is the leadership structure of the Rover Unit. Unit Council consists of a Unit Leader and the Unit. Adult Leaders attend in more of a supervisory capacity, as the program is wholly Youth Leading, Adult Supporting.

1st Werribee Rover Scouts meet as the Wilf Kendall Rover Unit on Monday (7:30 pm - 10:00 pm) at 1st Werribee Scout Hall. Rovers can choose to meet with other neighbouring Rover Units.

The motto of the Rover Scout Section is Beyond the Horizon.

The Rover Scout Peak Award:

Baden-Powell Scout Award

The Baden-Powell Scout Award is the highest award a Rover can earn while in the Rover Scout section. It is also the final peak award in the youth program. To be awarded the Baden-Powell Scout Award, Rovers need to:

Complete Milestone 3 (Milestone 1 and Milestone 2 are optional)

Have achieved Stage 5 in all three Core OAS Areas of Bushcraft, Bushwalking and Camping

Progress 14 OAS Stages during the Section or since achieving their King's Scout Award. At least six of these Stage progressions must include achievement of Stage 4 or above in any skill area (can include advancement of Core skills, if not previously achieved)

Complete 6 Projects in a least 4 Special Interest Areas

(Each Project is a minimum 18-hour duration, including Plan>Do>Review>)

Plan> and lead an Adventurous Journey of at least 4 days / 3 nights' duration

(Each Rover Scout wishing to complete their Peak Award must plan and lead an Adventurous Journey without sharing the planning load with other Rover Scouts.)

30 hours of Personal Development or Unit Management Course/s

Personal Reflection

Upon completion of the elements that make up the Baden-Powell Scout Award, the Scout then Reviews> their journey through the Section.

The Baden-Powell Scout Award requires the approval of the Unit Council, and all the award requirements must be completed and approved.
