1st Werribee Scout Group

At 1st Werribee, Cub Scouts is for young people starting from 8 years of age who transition to the Scout Section after turning 11 and before turning 12 years of age. Cub Scouts are creating their own paths, developing their sense of place, exploring the world around them, encountering new experiences, expanding perspectives, determining their own adventures and building upon friendships. They generally meet once a week, as well as going on some super cool weekend activities. There are fun camps for Cub Scouts, which could have interesting themes like ‘Space Odyssey’ or ‘Pirates on the High Seas’. With some experience, you can even join a five-day ‘Cuboree’ with hundreds of other excited Cub Scouts at Gilwell Park, near Gembrook.

Unit Council is the leadership structure of the Cub Scout Unit. Unit Council consists of a Unit Leader (optional), Patrol Leaders, Assistant Patrol Leaders, and Adult Leaders.

1st Werribee Cub Scouts meet on Tuesday (7:00 pm - 8:30 pm) at 1st Werribee Scout Hall.

The motto of the Cub Scout Section is Create the Path.

The Cub Scout Peak Award:

Grey Wolf Award

The Grey Wolf Award is the highest achievement a Cub Scout can earn while in the Cub Scout section. To be awarded the Grey Wolf Award, Cub Scouts need to:

Complete Milestone 3 (Milestone 1 and Milestone 2 are optional)

Have achieved Stage 3 in all three Core OAS Areas of Bushcraft, Bushwalking and Camping

Progress 8 OAS Stages during the Section or since achieving their Joey Scout Challenge Award (can include advancement of Core skills)

Complete 6 Projects in a least 2 Special Interest Areas

(Each Project is a minimum 4-hour duration, including Plan>Do>Review>)

Plan> and lead an Adventurous Journey of at least 4 hours' duration

(A maximum of two Scouts may plan and lead the journey.)

Attend a weekend Personal Development or Leadership Course

Personal Reflection

Upon completion of the elements that make up the Grey Wolf Award, the Scout then Reviews> their journey through the Section.

The Grey Wolf Award requires the approval of the Unit Council, and all the award requirements must be completed and approved before the Cub Scout progresses to the Scout Section.
